What is a Mantra Meditation?
There are many different styles of meditation, and one powerful and simple way of meditating is by using a mantra. The meaning of "mantra" relating to meditation, is the repetition of a sound or word. There are some mantras that have meanings, such as Deepak Chopra's 21 Day meditations where Sanskrit, the ancient language of India, is used. At The Chopra Center, we provide individuals with their own personalized mantra, that is special to them. The mantra is used for its sound and is repeated silently for its vibration to move beyond the mind and thoughts. The mantra has no meaning is used silently so that the mind isn't focused on a specific experience or outcome, and allows for accessing heightened perception beyond what is possible through thought in itself.
What is Primordial Sound Meditation
Primordial Sound Meditation is a special approach to meditation rooted in thousands of years of tradition, which was resurrected by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and the Chopra Center. Primordial Sounds are the basic sounds of nature and are used in this style of meditation to connect back with the essential balance within, refocusing our attention from thoughts and activity to tranquility and peace. These individual sounds that are repeated silently during meditation are chosen based on the date, time and location of your birth, and are the sound of the universe at the time you were born. Once you receive your specialized Primordial Sound mantra you will use this sound as your point of attention during meditation to help activate the innate peace, knowingness and healing mechanisms within. You will be guided on how to easily integrate meditation into your life more consistently.

How Do I Learn Mantra Meditation, Primordial Sound Meditation?
Primordial Sound Meditation is easily taught over 3 or 4 short sessions. In session 1, you will be introduced to the basic principles of meditation, it's history, and the importance of your mantra. In Session 2, you'll receive your personal instruction in your primordial sound mantra and learn how to use it. You will meditate for the first time using your primordial sound mantra.
In session 3, you will learn the practice practical aspects of meditation, share your experience, receive answers to any questions, and meditate as a group.
In session 4, we will discuss the higher state of consciousness that can be achieved with regular primordial sound meditation practice and will share Deepak Chopra's vision of these higher states.
